cheers to kc_ray for indirectly introducing me to this very fun band.  =)

life is keeping me really busy.  so much so that i'm nearing that line where 'too busy' becomes an appropriate adjective.

but life is really, really good.  despite daily stresses, i have a peace about me that had been all too elusive lately.

i'll tell you all about it when i finally finish this photo project tomorrow.

peace be with you.

so i work at a tattoo and piercing studio now.  it's actually the best shop of its kind in seattle, if not this region of the country.  and i honestly would have told you that a long time ago, before i started working there.  it has no website at the moment that i could tell you to go look at.  but the fun news is that i'm going to be a major part of bringing it into existence.

crap.  time got away from me.  gotta run for a bus.  more on deep roots (the studio) later.

shalom.

i have a favourite pair of jeans. i like them because they fit me well.  however.  they only fit in this way when i wear them after they've been freshly washed.  they remain in this state of perfection for maybe the next two days that i wear them, and then the fabric begins to loosen again and they become too baggy.  this frustrates me.  it is a catch twenty two situation however.  you see, if i were to buy jeans that constantly fit the way the aforementioned jeans did when freshly laundered, when the newer, tighter jeans were newly washed and dried, they would be like spandex.  spandex is evil.  on my body.  not specific others'.  spandex can be a wonderful thing.  sometimes.  yeah.

i swear i'm not under the influence of a damn thing right now.  i'm going to bed though.  g'night.

ah.  random trivia question.  you get a cookie if you know this.  from what film does this line come?  'tk421, why aren't you at your post?'  good luck kids.

i've felt compelled to walk a lot lately.  partially because it's too cold and windy to ride my bicycle (for i am a fair weather peddler my friends.  and a wuss apparently).  and partially because; while far superior to most american cities' pubic transport systems, the seattle metro bus system has caused me a lot of headaches lately.  but i've felt like there is something else urging me to trek around seattle by foot.  in the moments over the past few days when i've felt that declarative sense of 'screw this! i'm walking to ____ instead!' it has felt very much like the indescribably complex sense of drive and excitement that accompanies bursts of creativity within my psyche.  so i walk.  appropriately enough considering the 'creative drive' to walk, i've had some rather inspiring moments on my walks lately.  last night, on my way from one bus stop to another, a young woman wearing a pale pink knitted hat and i walked under the marquee of a local theater at the same time, traveling opposite directions.  the theater is one of seattle's oldest, and has those wonderful antique looking spherical light bulbs hanging under the marquee to give light to the theater's doorway and box office.  the marquee itself is enormous; the prow of a good sized ship jutting from this old red and brown brick building.  and yet, when one is even a mere ten paces from standing under the marquee, the dark of the surrounding streets at night seems quite vast.  and so there i found myself.  aware of a figure of small stature also approaching the theater, but being no more than a silhouette.  a few seconds later, we were both bathed in the yellow orange light.  our eyes met for a moment, she smiled, i smiled back; and as if walking through some invisible curtain i was again strolling through the darkness.  a literal moment of light and beauty, and its subsequently ethereal warmth, and then a return to the ordinary.

perhaps it is fitting that i'm in the middle of my annual re-reading of tolkien's epic story of a journey.  life really is about going 'there and back again' sometimes.

peace.
